Address Labels

I designed this address label for a friend's birthday, and then couldn't resist getting a few for myself. When they arrived though, I felt that something was off with the design.

So your choices are

A) The design is too busy for an address label

A1) (choose one) picture from
your website would work better

B) The inset part needs to be lighter
B1) The font needs to be darker

C) You're crazy, it's perfect, and your friend liked it the way it was so why are you stressing?

D) Pick your own answer

Today's been a surreal day

Well received grand rounds. Check.
Very productive meeting on my research project. Check.
Project Runway's divine Tim Gunn picks my question for the designers and says my name on national TV. Check?!??!!

It's OVER

I am so happy grand rounds is over. I still have an adrenaline rush. It was well received, which is really satisfying considering the amount of work that I did.

Magnets

I bought the orchid magnets, and they came out great! I'm very excited that the colors are vibrant--the picture I took of the magnets is a little washed out though.

I'm underwhelmed

To take a page out of Michael Kors' book, I was very underwhelmed by my TV shows this week.

However, with Gilmore girls, I'll holding out that I'll get a sweet payoff in the end.

With Project Runway, I'm a bit "meh." Especially after seeing the collections, and absolutely loving Kara's decoy collection. Though I am excited for the reunion show! Diana! Nick! Andrae! Oh, my!

Cease and Desist

I got one of those "cease and desist" letters from Project Runway via Cafepress. I should have realized what I created infringed on copyright. Oh, well. Live and learn, and take down all things related to project runway based designs. :)

But then I obviously didn't learn, because when subscribed to Google Adwords, they asked for a URL for the ad. Not thinking, I put down
www.cafepress.com/nsa001. Unfortunately, cafepress.com is a trademark, so again I was infringing on trademark. So I stopped my google adwords campaign as I don't have time to put together a domain where I can direct traffic to first. At least I'm only $5.35 in the hole. Small favors. Silver linings.

I'm diversifying into pink

What else but pink orchids? Taken at the Philadelphia Flower Show in 2005. Photoshopped to appear like a watercolor tonight. Placed on various magnets and such tonight :)

Rehabilitation tidbit of the day

If you find yourself in a hospital for any length of time, have your heel cords stretched on a many times daily basis. You'll thank me for it later.

back to your regularly scheduled programming.

Just figuring out how many ways I can photograph a yellow orchid

This makes 4, I believe. And it is yet another orchid photograph that is on a coaster and other items too. And I stuck it in the Nick was robbed store because I was too lazy to make up another one. I think I should just go premium on cafepress and be done with it.

but I can't.

I have to give grand rounds.

need to start working...too distracted by the internet...

14 slides done, many, many more to go

GRAND ROUNDS!!!

that scream was cathartic.

Thank you.

on a happier note, look at the pretty picture on the pretty magnet :)

hmmmm

Now this just looks funny. Who would have thought a photoshopped blurry photo of night-time lights would look so funny?

I've been tagged--Four Square

So, thanks to Roopali, I've been tagged to play the blog version of four square. (great game, great times...;)(actually I think I was hit on the head alot while playing/avoiding this game...I don't have the best eye-hand coordination) And because I have a hard time resisting a challenge, here it is. (also mirrored on my alter blogo)

four jobs i've had (yeah, I'm quite sheltered)
1. I sold my mom's friend rose shaped napkin holders made out of felt in the fifth grade.
2. Note service copy girl in med school. The copy machine would jam up every five seconds, and I had to staple and number...and I couldn't print the stuff until all the notes came in LATE Friday night/early Saturday Morning (stupid me, had the Friday night shift--great way to kill a non-existent social life ;)
3. Internship/Residency
4. Cafepress shop (I've earned twenty dollars so far with this one ;)

four movies i could watch over and over
1. My Big Fat Greek Weddiing
2. Bend It Like Beckham
3. My Fair Lady
4. Bridget Jones' Diary

four places i've lived (a big stretch...)
1. Churchville, PA
2.
Huntingdon Valley, PA
3.
State College, PA
4. Philadelphia, PA

four t.v. shows i love to watch
1. Gilmore Girls
2. Project Runway
3. Washington Week with Gwen Ifill
4. Scrubs

four places i've been on vacation
1. San Juan, Puerto Rico
2. Whitley Bay, England
3. Florence, Italy
4. Bangalore, India

four of my favorite foods
1. Ritter Sport Yogurt-Filled Chocolate Bar
2. Anything my mom makes
3. Greek food
4. Tuna rolls (sushi)

four places i'd rather be right now
1. Anywhere but the hospital
2. if anywhere includes a bed where I'm sound asleep, that's preferable
3. somewhere sunny, but not too warm.
4. Italy

four sites i visit daily
1. TelevisionWithoutPity
2. Cafepress
3. Vanguard/PNCBank/IngDirect
4. NPR

four bloggers i'm tagging
(do I even know four bloggers that aren't tagged who might read this?)
1. Reshama
2. Shantala
3. Harriti
4. Russell (yes, I am well aware you have never posted on your blog, however, you have one nonetheless, and I need four bloggers)

Done!

What else?

but more orchid photographs. These are in silhouette against a really blue sky.

grand rounds tidbits

Normally there are 3 zones of lung parenchyma.
Zone 1, apical, ventilation greater than perfusion
Zone 2, middle, ventilation = perfusion
Zone 3, basilar, ventilation less than perfusion

The supine position increases the area of the lung that is zone 3.

New Orchid Collage Design

I started playing around with Photoshop tonight, and this is the result.
